While it’s true the US, as Ukraine’s most important supporter, has also been lukewarm about negotiations, everything comes back to the annexation of Donbas/ Crimea. Putin, it seems, won’t budge — though it should be noted he is now claiming that he would surrender annexed territory except for American and British interference.
